Body Recomposition
Body recomposition means losing fat while gaining or preserving muscle, so the scale may barely move while your body genuinely improves.
Plain English
Patient-Friendly Explanation
Body recomposition means changing your body's composition — losing fat while gaining or preserving muscle — so the scale may barely move while your body genuinely improves.
Medical
Clinical Definition
Body recomposition refers to concurrent reduction in fat mass and increase in lean mass. It is achievable in beginners, in detrained individuals, and with adequate protein plus resistance training; the energy deficit required for fat loss and the surplus required for muscle gain create a narrow window that makes recomposition slower than either goal alone.

Why It Matters
For patients who are “not losing weight” but training hard, the explanation is often recomposition — this is why the clinic tracks body composition, not just weight.
