Weekly Weight Loss Injections in Singapore — How the Once-a-Week Plan Works
The weekly injection format is designed for adherence: one small injection a week, at home, after training. The weekly rhythm also structures your review schedule — the plan is adjusted at each visit on evidence.
In short
Once-a-week dosing is the format; the discipline of weekly or monthly medical review is what makes it a programme.
01
Why once a week
GLP-1 medicines are designed in two formats: daily tablets and weekly injections. The weekly injection uses a longer-acting form of the medicine, so one dose sustains the appetite-regulating effect across the week. For many patients, a single weekly routine is easier to keep than a daily one.
02
The build-up phase
Treatment does not start at the full dose. The dose increases over several weeks to let your body adjust and to keep digestive side effects manageable. This escalation schedule is set by your doctor and is not something to improvise.
- Starts low, increases gradually over weeks
- Each step reviewed before the next
- Side effects typically settle during build-up
03
The monitoring rhythm
With a weekly injection, review visits typically start every 2–4 weeks: weight, waist, body composition (InBody), side-effect check, and any relevant bloods. As you stabilise, reviews spread out. The schedule is set with you, and teleconsultation is available for follow-ups.
04
What makes results differ
The injection is a tool, not the whole plan. In trials, the best results combined the medicine with structured lifestyle support. The practical difference in our programme: nutrition guidance for Singapore eating, activity targets, and honest review of what is and is not working.
05
Cost of the weekly plan
First consultation $80–150 (including InBody scan); follow-ups $50–80; the supervised lifestyle programme $200–500/month. The medicine, where prescribed, is charged separately and confirmed with you first.
Questions
Common questions
Do I inject myself?
Yes — after training at the clinic. The pre-filled pen is simple to use, and most patients manage their first injection comfortably with guidance. There is no visible needle in normal use.
What if I miss a week?
Your doctor gives you clear instructions for missed doses — generally, take it as soon as you remember unless the next dose is close, and never double up. A quick message to the clinic resolves any uncertainty.
How long does the weekly plan run?
Active treatment is typically 6–12 months to reach your target, followed by a structured maintenance phase. The timeline is reviewed with you as you progress.
Is a weekly injection painful?
The needle is very fine and the injection is under the skin — most patients describe it as a mild pinch at most, similar to a mosquito bite, for a second or two.
Next step
Start with an assessment, not a package
Every plan at Accord Medical begins with a doctor's assessment of your history, measurements and goals — and a clear recommendation, even if that recommendation is that you do not need treatment.
