Clinical Definition
Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure that excises redundant abdominal skin and subcutaneous fat and plicates (tightens) rectus abdominis muscle separation. It is one of the most common post-weight-loss body contouring procedures and is generally deferred until weight has stabilised and childbearing is complete. Risks include seroma, wound separation and blood clots.
