Phendimetrazine

Phendimetrazine is a prescription weight loss medication that works by suppressing your appetite. Phendimetrazine is a Schedule III sympathomimetic amine anorectic agent that acts as a prodrug to phenmetrazine, promoting norepinephrine and dopamine release in the hypothalamus to suppress appetite. It is FDA-approved for short-term management of exogenous obesity (BMI ≥30, or ≥27 with comorbidities) as an adjunct to caloric restriction. Typical dosing is 17.5–35 mg two to three times daily before meals, or 105 mg extended-release once daily. Common side effects include tachycardia, hypertension, insomnia, and dry mouth. Tolerance typically develops within weeks.
