Lixisenatide

Lixisenatide is an injectable medicine in the same family as semaglutide that helps control blood sugar and can modestly support weight loss. It works by slowing stomach emptying and helping you feel full after smaller meals. It is mainly used to treat type 2 diabetes.

Lixisenatide is a once-daily, short-acting GLP-1 receptor agonist derived from exendin-4, indicated for type 2 diabetes. It lowers postprandial glucose primarily by delaying gastric emptying and suppressing glucagon secretion, with modest effects on body weight. Its weight-loss effect is smaller than that of longer-acting GLP-1 agonists such as liraglutide or semaglutide.
