Fatty liver happens when excess fat builds up in your liver cells. It is very common in people who are overweight. The good news: weight loss can reverse fatty liver, often completely.

Clinical Definition
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is hepatic steatosis in the absence of significant alcohol consumption. It affects up to 40% of the Singapore population and is closely linked to obesity and insulin resistance.

Why It Matters
NAFLD can progress to NASH, cirrhosis, and liver cancer. Weight loss of 7-10% is the only proven treatment to reduce liver fat and inflammation.
