Survodutide is a dual GLP-1/glucagon receptor agonist in development for obesity that aims to reduce appetite and boost energy expenditure.
Survodutide is a new investigational weight loss medication that works on two hormone receptors at once β GLP-1 and glucagon β to help reduce appetite and increase the body’s energy burning. It is given as a once-weekly injection and is being studied for both obesity and fatty liver disease.
Survodutide is a dual GLP-1/glucagon receptor agonist in phase 3 clinical development for obesity. Unlike pure GLP-1 agonists, the addition of glucagon receptor agonism is intended to increase energy expenditure through enhanced lipolysis and thermogenesis, complementing the appetite-suppressing and glycaemic effects of GLP-1 agonism.
Medications that both suppress appetite AND increase calorie burning could offer more powerful weight loss than current options. Dr Joseph Wang monitors the clinical trial data on survodutide so Accord Medical patients can benefit from evidence-based treatment advances.
