Metabolic Health

How well your body regulates blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure, a fuller measure of health than weight alone.

Plain English

Patient-Friendly Explanation

How well your body manages blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, and waist size. A person can be a normal weight but metabolically unhealthy, or carry extra weight and still have healthy metabolic markers.

Medical

Clinical Definition

A state of normal glucose regulation, blood pressure, lipid profile, and waist circumference. Metabolically healthy obesity describes individuals with obesity but no metabolic syndrome components, a phenotype associated with lower, though not absent, cardiovascular risk compared with metabolically unhealthy obesity.

Key Insight

Why It Matters

Weight alone does not tell the whole story of your health risk. Dr. Joseph Wang uses metabolic health markers, not just the scale, to personalise your weight management plan and track real health improvement.
